Some years ago I posed the question to the owner of Cardinal Scale, David Perry why he didn't build a truck scale that would last a lifetime of more than 25 years. His response was that no one would be able to afford it or wouldn't pay that much. I believe that Cardinal now builds a scale that is built to last a lifetime.

Lightning = Money!!!!
I was asked recently by a good friend/competitor why we sold so many hydraulic scales. He asked if we were stupid. Really! Stupid? I asked him what he meant and he said, "well with the ecomomy being the way it is, and it being so hard to be profitable in the scale business. The only way we can make money is when a big storm blows through the area. If your hydraulic scale has a lifetime warranty and lightning doesn't affect the scale, how the ##$&%R&*&) do you manage to make any money?" My only answer to him was we have no problems managing a profitable business by offering better service, quality products and taking care of our customers.
Hydraulic load cells offered from Cardinal Scale have an unconditional lifetime warranty which is not prorated. Hydraulic scales also keep disreputable scale service companies out of your business.

Water...what water?
We have several customers in the Aggregate industry and cleanup under scale can be troublesome. Usually the only good way to clean from under a truck scale is by using a high pressure water line to "blast" the material from under a scale. This makes everything wet and when wiring and electronics get wet they stop working properly unless it is a perfectly sealed system. What in this world is perfect? Last week we were working at one of these locations where the newer scales are hydraulic while the older sales in use are fully electronic. During a conversation with the manager he stated in the last five years that the hydraulic scales had only one service call total (3 scales) while the electroinic scales were constantly breaking down (over 25 service calls per year on five scales). Same application! Lifetime warranty means no problems!keith@pioneerscale.com

Reason # 2 - Built to last
One of the things that most service companies fear is selling equipment that is so cheap that they don't last and you loose a valuable customer because of it. Some years ago Pioneer started doing business with a large chicken processing company in Arkansas and they had another brand of hydraulic scale that was less than 10 years old. The hydraulic cells were in excellent condition but the design of the scale deck was so poorly constructed that the area where the load cells were located had started to decay and rust. This eventually forced the customer to replace the scale because it would not weigh their trucks accurately. We encourage all of our customers to visit the Cardinal factory in Webb City, Mo to see first hand a scale deck being constructed upside down. It is an impressive site watching the robots welding the steel which is mounted on a giant skid or template to insure that it is welded to prescise tolerances. It is easy to see why each hydraulic scale that Cardinal manufactures will be around long after I retire and will more than likely last a generation beyond that. We also have never lost an order after a customer has seen their scale being built. Built to Last!
